Many PresentsThe 12 Debts of Christmas Part Four

Joy to the World! The end is near

I’ve bought too much again

and every debt

has swelled beyond control

and they just keep piling on

and they just keep piling on

and each debt after debt keeps piling on

I can’t believe, my bills are overdue

No heat or hydro for me

I’m cold and in the dark

I still have stuff to buy

and they keep on wanting more

and they keep on wanting more

and they all just keep on wanting more

How to Manage Money and Christmas Debt

There are way’s to save money during the holidays. Some of them may take a little more will power and others just make sense. Each time you open your wallet is another time you are sinking further into debt. Here are a couple tips that can help you this December and in the coming year. You can learn how to manage money and stay out of debt these holidays.

HOLIDAY DEBT TIP 7: Have a Dry Holiday

For a lot of us, there is nothing nicer than sitting near a crackling fire all bundled up while sipping on a rum and eggnog. For others a couple of glasses of wine is the perfect accent to a delicious turkey dinner. Along with Christmas Day, we often attend parties at work or social with friends where alcohol is present. It can all be fun but at the end of the day alcohol is expensive. Perhaps the solution is to limit the amount of alcohol you consume or to have a dry Christmas altogether. Being the designated driver has its perks. However, if you choose to be festive limit how much you drink. By the time the season is over you will have saved plenty of money that can go towards more important things. The other plus is you get to laugh at those coworkers who a fool of themselves while swinging from the Christmas tree.

HOLIDAY DEBT TIP 8: Track Your Progress

Now is a great time to see how you have done. You’ve made your list and checked it twice. Hopefully most of your financial goals have been met and you have stuck with your game plan. Now is a great time to be sure and review what you have done.

Have you stayed on budget?

Have you paid all of your bills in advance?

Have you started saving?

Are you lowering your living expenses?

Did you look for coupons?

Have you met some of your financial goals?

If you answered yes to all of these, congratulations! You are on your way. Unfortunately some people may find it difficult to meet their expectations and have fallen short. Don’t worry. Even if you have completed one of these tasks you have vastly improved your chances of being debt free in the coming year. Keep going with those positive results. If you have fallen short then it may be time to pull up your socks a bit and stick with your game plan. There are just a few days left but that’s plenty of time to make your goals into reality. Go back to your list and make it happen!
